Hair Stylist

Peter Platel (1966), one of Belgium’s leading hair stylists, became known to the general public as the hair stylist of the TV show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Belgian edition).

As a driven entrepreneur, Peter Platel was founding director of Wakko Hairdressers for almost 30 years. His personal mission is to contribute in an authentic, inspirational and motivational way on a daily basis, so that he and the people around him can grow into the best version of themselves.

Wakko Hairdressers sets itself apart from most other hair salons by ‘cutting on dry hair‘ and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. Near the end of 2018, Jitske Van de Veire took over the reins of De Wakko Kapper in Ghent. Near the end of 2019, Charlotte Jacob did the same for De Wakko Kapper in Brussels. On 1 July 2020, Jitske Van de Veire also became managing director of De Wakko Kapper in Antwerp.

After successfully selling his company, Peter Platel is fully focused on a creative life in which his scissors still play a central role as a collage artist.
